Start Windows without a Password

If you have a computer that only you use and will not be accessed by others then you may want to consider disabling the password sign in required when logging in. The change below is local only and your computer can only be accessed externally by using the original password. Your final decision should be risked based on who may want to access or the chances of theft or unauthorised access. The method shown below is not the only one but it is the best for all devices including laptops.

To start we need to access a hidden old school applet NETPLWIZ. The most straight forward way is to type this name in the search box,

No Password - Search for NETPLWIZ.png

Click on the highlighted selection and the applet will open

No Password Unchecked Box.png
  • Select your username and uncheck the box as shown above

  • Then press OK and a box will open asking for your password confirmation

No Password - Confirm Password .png
  • Enter the details  and press OK

  • You will need to restart your computer for this change to come into effect
